This Fall, the Animal Hospice Group (AHG) is offering Level 2 and Level 3 of our Animal Hospice Education Program concurrentlyâa unique opportunity to deepen your skills and earn advanced credentials in animal hospice care.
Whether youâre continuing directly from Level 1 or returning after a timeout, these next steps are designed to help you grow, reflect, and step into the meaningful role you feel called to fill.

Level 2: Certified Animal Hospice Counselor (CAHC)
In Level 2, you move from foundational knowledge to real-world applicationâhoning your ability to support pet parents as they navigate the emotional and practical complexities of end-of-life care. Upon successful completion, you will earn the Certified Animal Hospice Counselor (CAHC) credentials.
This designation recognizes your ability to compassionately counsel families, hold space for big emotions, and guide decision-making around life-limiting diagnoses, natural death, euthanasia, grief, and memorialization.
From Theory to Practice: A Transformational Step
Level 2 meets every other Sunday for 3 hours via Zoom across 12 weeks, blending group discussion, role-playing, and structured writing. Youâll build not just knowledgeâbut counseling skills, confidence, and emotional presence.

Certified Animal Hospice Counselor Certification
Essays and Reflective Learning
Youâll complete six structured writing assignments, each tied to real case studies developed by the AHG co-founders. These essays are designed to:
- Practice ethical, compassionate communication
- Apply key concepts in emotionally charged caregiving scenarios
- Build your voice as a thoughtful animal hospice guide
Between sessions, youâll also engage in peer brainstorming and AHG Community discussions to extend learning and foster connection.
Certified Animal Hospice Counselor Requirements
Upon completing all LIVE Sessions and passing your written assignments, you will be awarded the Certified Animal Hospice Counselor (CAHC) credentialâa confirmation of your readiness to guide and support families through some of lifeâs most profound transitions.
Level 3: Certified Animal Hospice Practitioner (CAHP)
Level 3 is the culminating step in your professional development through AHG. It is designed to help you synthesize your training, reflect deeply on your future role, and earn your Certified Animal Hospice Practitioner (CAHP) designation.
This Level 3 CAHP advanced course invites you to explore:
- The variety of work and volunteer settings in which CAHPs serve
- The unique gifts and skills you bring to your caregiving approach
- How to apply hospice values in complex, real-world caregiving landscapes
Whether you envision yourself supporting families directly, consulting alongside veterinarians, or educating your community, Level 3 helps you clarify your calling and prepare to serve.
Professional Integration and Final Assignment
Level 3 Training Includes:
- Two reflective essays exploring CAHP roles, ethical challenges, and real-world application/li>
- The Final CAHP Writing Assignment, distributed November 1, 2025 and due by December 31, 2025
These writing exercises allow you to demonstrate your learning, integrate your caregiving philosophy, and articulate your unique approach to supporting pets and their families at the end of life.
Your work will be evaluated using a detailed scoring rubric and personally reviewed by our AHG Co-Founders, respected leaders in holistic animal hospice care.
Certified Animal Hospice Practitioner Certification
Graduates who successfully complete Level 3 will receive their Certified Animal Hospice Practitioner (CAHP) credentialsâa symbol of advanced training, leadership, and commitment to holistic end-of-life care.
The CAHP designation affirms:
- Mastery of AHGâs full training program
- Deep integration of hospice philosophy and values
- Readiness to lead, educate, and support others in your community
